Jakarta, July 30 (CNA) Indonesia is considering including Taiwanese travelers in its automated immigration clearance system when it is completed, a spokesman for the Indonesian immigration office said Monday.
Agung Sampurno, spokesman for the Directorate General of Immigration, said such a move would attract more tourists and investors to his country.
Top immigration administration officials of Indonesia and Taiwan are currently discussing the issue of making it easier for Taiwan nationals to clear immigration at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta, where an Automatic Gate system is being installed, Agung told CNA.
The challenge, however, lies in connecting the new system to the older of the two terminals at the airport, he said.
Meanwhile, he urged Taiwanese to attend the Asian Games, which will be held in Jakarta and Palembang Aug.18 to Sept. 2.
"We're waiting for you," Agung said. "See you at the Asian Games."
